Originally, Big Hug began as a small nonprofit effort dedicated to helping underserved children and vulnerable communities around the world, regardless of nationality or background.처음 Big Hug는 특정 민족이나 지역에 한정되지 않고, 제3국의 어려운 환경에 놓인 어린이들과 소외된 이웃들을 돕기 위한 작은 비영리 활동으로 시작되었습니다.

However, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many immigrant families and small business owners in Washington State faced serious challenges caused by language barriers, cultural differences, limited digital access, and economic uncertainty.그러나 2020년 COVID-19 팬데믹 기간 동안, 워싱턴주에 거주하는 많은 이민자 가족들과 소상공인들이 언어 장벽, 문화적 차이, 디지털 접근성 부족, 경제적 어려움 속에서 큰 혼란을 겪는 모습을 직접 보게 되었습니다.

At that time, the volunteers serving Big Hug were all Korean immigrants themselves, and the Korean American community became the place where information, support, and practical help could be delivered most quickly and effectively.당시 Big Hug의 봉사자들은 모두 한국계 이민자들이었고, 가장 빠르게 소식을 전달하고 실질적인 도움을 연결할 수 있었던 곳 역시 한인 커뮤니티였습니다.

As a result, Big Hug naturally began focusing its efforts on supporting Korean American small business owners and their families in Washington State. To provide more organized community support and resources, Big Hug later established KARC (Korean American Resource Center) as a DBA initiative.그 결과 Big Hug는 자연스럽게 워싱턴주 한인 소상공인들과 그 가족들을 지원하는 활동에 집중하게 되었고, 보다 체계적인 커뮤니티 지원을 위해 KARC(Korean American Resource Center)를 DBA 형태로 설립하게 되었습니다.

Yet the core spirit of Big Hug has never changed.하지만 Big Hug의 핵심 정신은 처음부터 지금까지 변하지 않았습니다.

We do not exist for only one group of people. We exist to connect and support individuals and families facing barriers caused by language, culture, information gaps, and limited access to opportunity.우리는 특정 사람들만을 위한 조직이 아니라, 언어와 문화, 정보의 장벽 속에서 어려움을 겪는 사람들을 연결하고 돕기 위해 존재합니다.

Today, Big Hug works to empower immigrant families, students, workers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners by connecting them with education, technology, community support, and economic opportunities.현재 Big Hug는 이민자 가족, 학생, 직장인, 창업가, 소상공인들이 더 나은 기회와 연결될 수 있도록 교육, 기술, 커뮤니티, 그리고 다양한 자원을 연결하는 역할을 하고 있습니다.

We believe immigrants bring resilience, culture, creativity, and economic strength that enrich local communities and society as a whole.우리는 이민자들이 사회에 가져오는 회복력, 문화, 창의성, 그리고 경제적 가치가 지역사회를 더욱 풍요롭게 만든다고 믿습니다.

Our mission goes beyond providing temporary assistance. We aim to help people build sustainable futures for themselves, their families, and future generations.Big Hug의 목표는 단순한 지원에 머무르지 않습니다. 우리는 사람들이 스스로 지속 가능한 미래를 만들고, 가족과 다음 세대를 위한 기반을 세울 수 있도록 돕고자 합니다.

Through partnerships with nonprofits, local governments, educational institutions, and community organizations, Big Hug continues working to bridge cultural, language, and digital gaps while creating programs that promote long-term growth, inclusion, and opportunity.Big Hug는 비영리단체, 지역 정부, 교육기관, 커뮤니티 단체들과 협력하며 문화·언어·디지털 격차를 줄이고, 장기적인 성장과 포용을 돕는 다양한 프로그램을 만들어가고 있습니다.

And even today, Big Hug continues to hold onto the same spirit that inspired its beginning:그리고 지금도 Big Hug는 처음 시작 당시의 마음을 잊지 않고 있습니다.
